Q: What do you do now?
A: I worked as an office manager/property manager at Pebley, Inc. almost 27 years. This position provided the opportunity to work with many business owners and bankers in Fremont. I also worked with the Fremont Housing Agency, Care Corps and Life House to find appropriate housing for the citizens of Fremont.
Q: Why did you decide to run for office?
A: Fremont has been good to me while I’ve lived and worked here. I decided it was my turn to give back to our great community! Here I am running for the city council.
Q: How do you get involved in the community?
A: Before moving to Nebraska, I participated in the Jaycees and received various awards over the years. After coming to Fremont, I was primarily involved in my children’s activities by volunteering in the classroom and at school events. Much of our time was spent at the Fremont Family YMCA where I was volunteer of the month. I have also been and continue to be a very active member of First Lutheran Church in various capacities since coming to town.
Q: What qualifies you for this position?
A: I feel that my time on the Fremont Planning Commission and as the Chair of the Board of Adjustment has prepared me for a seat on the City Council. Eventually, Mayor Spellerberg and Mayor Getzschman appointed me to the Planning Commission. My time in Fremont and attending council meetings has also opened my eyes to what Fremont needs.
Q: What do you think are the top two issues in Dodge County (if running for City Council, the top two issues in Fremont) and how would you address them if elected?
Answer: As the City of Fremont continues to grow, we need to address the need to expand our services, including our police and fire departments. Until I research both of these areas, I can’t give an answer. In addition, it is necessary to solve the problems of traffic and safety.
Q: What do you think the county (or city) could do better? why?
A: I hope to impress the council by offering a more cooperative approach as a city council member. I think more can be accomplished by working with other board members, staff, and others present at meetings.
Q: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
A: One of the most adventurous things I’ve done is jet skiing on the ocean.
