Greater Bakersfield Legal Aid for Immigrant Civil Rights Conference

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Greater Bakersfield Legal Aid Center (GBLA) will host its 3rd Annual Immigrant Civil Rights Conference on Saturday, October 29th. The event is in partnership with California State University Bakersfield (CSUB), the American Civil Liberties Union of Kern County, United Farm Workers, Legal Action At Work and the Committee on Outreach, Enrollment, Retention and Utilization.

The Immigrant Civil Rights Conference aims to educate the public about the issues that immigrants face and the issues that affect them, while informing the public about ways to help immigrants and the resources that immigrants can use. According to a press release, “the conference will address the systemic barriers immigrants face in communicating and accessing community resources.” There will also be information related to DACA, the TRUTH Act, health care, housing and domestic violence.

The conference is free to the public and will be held in the CSUB Student Union Multipurpose Room from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants must register to participate in the event.
