ADELANTA, CA (VVNG.com) — The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a deputy-involved shooting Monday morning in Adelanto.

It happened around 8:22 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2022, in the 15100 block of Christopher Street.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said VVNG deputies responded to the unwanted call and found an adult male nearby. “There was a shooting involving a deputy, the man was taken to a local hospital,” Rodriguez said.

Mobile phone video of the incident, provided by VVNG, showed deputies rescuing a man on the sidewalk.

After the man was taken from the scene, a red backpack, a blue baseball cap, white/black Nike sneakers and what appeared to be a black handgun were left near a cell phone and a pool of blood.

A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said the man was running and allegedly pointed a gun at police, and that’s when the shooting happened. The witness said he heard 10-12 shots.

At least one nearby home was hit by gunfire. A resident shared a photo with VVNG showing a shell casing on the floor after it hit the stucco near the front door. The driver’s side window of the patrol car was also broken.

A spokeswoman said no residents or deputies were injured and the investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story and information will be updated as it becomes available.
