Cal State University, Northridge, Head Women’s Basketball Coach Carlin Mitchell announced the addition of a game against No. 2 Stanford for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

The Matadors will travel to the Cardinal on Tuesday, Nov. 8 for a 6:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast via Stanford Pac-12.com.

“It’s not very often you add a second-place team to your schedule three weeks before opening day,” Mitchell said. “Some scheduling and timing conflicts allowed both sides to work. My respect for (Stanford head coach) Tara (VanDerveer) was a big part of agreeing to play the game. We are very excited to have the opportunity to compete against one of the best programs in the country.”

As a result of this addition, CSUN will reclassify its scheduled game against Antelope Valley University on Saturday, Nov. 26 at Northridge. CSUN-UAV will now be an exhibition for the Matadors and will not count toward CSUN’s total. Game time remains at 2 p.m. and remains on ESPN+.

With the addition of the game against Stanford, CSUN will open the 2022-23 campaign with three straight games against Pac-12 opponents as the Matadors open the season at UCLA on Monday, Nov. 7 and travel to No. 17 Arizona on Sunday, Nov. 13.
