SCVNews.com | Nov. 2: SCV Water Hosting Virtual Bridgeport Community Listening Session

Read Time:2 Minute, 18 Second

SCV Water invites the community to a virtual listening session in Bridgeport. Attendees will learn more about the planned groundwater treatment facility and hear updates from the August community listening session.

This is the second of two audition sessions that will take place virtually on Wednesday, November 2, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Participants are asked to register by Friday, October 28 at bit.ly/swellsNov2. A Zoom link will be provided to all registered participants. Community members who cannot attend the event can learn more about the project and participate in a survey to provide feedback by visiting www.yourSCVwater.com/swells.

During this virtual event, the SCV Water team will answer questions from attendees and share key information, including:

– 4-1-1 on the impact and benefits of the project

– How SCV Water is restoring groundwater availability due to PFAS

– Updates from the August community listening session

“We invite community members to join us to learn more about this ambitious cleanup project that will restore local water damaged by PFAS,” said SCV Water Senior Engineer Orlando Moreno, PE “Local, reliable water supply is critical to our customers, especially during a drought.”

Once built, the $16 million groundwater treatment plant, to be located on Bridgeport Lane across the street from Bridgeport Park, will remove PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) using ion exchange treatment in three existing wells.

These wells will produce up to 6,000 gallons per minute (9,678 acre-feet per year) of groundwater. This is equivalent to the amount of water used by more than 10,000 households each year. The project will also provide a local, reliable water supply for our customers and reduce our dependence on expensive imported water.
