The Nov. 8 midterm elections are fast approaching. Here’s everything you need to know to cast your vote. How do I register to vote? If you are eligible to vote and have not yet registered, you can do so online at registertovote.ca.gov. The deadline for voter registration is October 24. When can I vote? A mail-in ballot was sent to every registered voter in California. These ballots are active and can be sent as soon as the voter fills them out. If you prefer to vote in person, each county has at least one early voting location. You can find these early voting locations online at caearlyvoting.sos.ca.gov. Can I track my mail-in ballot? You can track your ballot to make sure it arrives at the polling station. To track your ballot, California requires you to register with the BallotTrax website. Where can I submit my ballot? Ballot drop off locations can be found around the Central Coast. Monterey County locations can be found here: Ballot Places. Santa Cruz County locations can be found here: Ballot Places. San Benito County locations can be found here: Ballot Places. Where can I vote on election day? Your polling place depends on where you live. To find out where to vote on Election Day, search for your address in California’s Find Your Polling Place tool. Should I bring my postal ballot on election day? Yes. If voters wish to vote in person, they must opt out of a mail-in ballot. If you forget to bring yours to the polling station, you will be issued with a provisional ballot which will be counted after the Registrar of Voters confirms that you did not vote by post.
